Black & McDonald provides the following major maintenance and operations functions under this complete facilities maintenance contract: HVAC systems, electrical substations and distribution systems; water treatment and distribution systems; parking lot maintenance; compressed air plant and distribution systems. Facility management also covers janitorial, landscaping, snow removal, fire and life safety for over one million square feet of museum.

Black & McDonald was contracted to design and install the 500 horsepower ammonia refrigeration plant, the warm and cold floor piping, the desiccant system serving each of the 4 pads and the main power control system for the ice plant.

Recreation Complex

St. Catharine's, ON

For the 4 NHL-sized ice surfaces, Black & McDonald Limited designed and installed a 500 horsepower refrigeration plant complete with 4 screw compressors, 2 plate and frame heat exchangers, separate cold floor glycol pumps and a single evaporative condenser, the main power control system for the ice plant and the refrigeration automation system complete with a graphical interface.
