Halton Healthcare
Ward Upgrades
Oakville, ON
Major upgrades for the Ultrasound/Mammography and Dialysis areas at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital were undertaken by Black & McDonald. Renovations in both areas involved electrical work, fire alarm upgrades, communications and nurses stations plus television system work in the Dialysis area only.

Hospital for Sick Children
Toronto, ON
Black & McDonald's multi-trade resources were utilized for the new laboratory installation and mechanical renovations for the 3rd floor University Wing. Due to health and safety issues, stainless steel ducts had to be routed along the building exterior to exhaust fans relocated to the 12th floor roof.

Ottawa Hospital, Riverside Campus
Ottawa, ON
Black & McDonald secured the prime electrical contract for the addition of a new $5.6M Dialysis Unit / Kidney Disease Research Centre at the Riverside Campus of The Ottawa Hospital. This project consisted of two floors of completely renovated clinical space plus a substantial infrastructure renewal component - all within a fully occupied and functional hospital setting. Many complicated shutdowns for tie-ins to existing services were required.

St. Joseph's Health System - Forensic Unit
Hamilton, ON
For the HVAC and plumbing renovations to the Forensic Unit, Black & McDonald undertook the demolition and removal of existing plumbing systems and fixtures in 3 wings. The installation of the new plumbing, fixtures and HVAC units was completed along with a revamp of all ductwork.

University Health Network / Hospital for Sick Children
Toronto, ON
Working as A.B.E. Joint Venture, Black & McDonald Limited along with AMEC Americas and Ellis Don Corporation are responsible for the Design, Construction and Fit-Out of 350,000 sq.ft. of world class laboratory and research space. Black & McDonald's scope of work includes all procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning for the mechanical, HVAC, sheet metal, electrical and communications systems within the facility.
