Ministry of Transportation of Ontario - Highway 401 Projects

The Ministry awarded Black & McDonald the contract for some several parts of the Highway 401 project.

The Advanced Traffic Management System Project was from 401 from Highway 2 to East of Salem Road running - running along the 401 East and West bound lanes between Pickering and Ajax. The Highway 401 West Bound Collectors Project was from Jane Street to Kipling Ave. This highly complex undertaking was comprised of seven stages. The purpose was to extend the service life of the infrastructure, enhance public safety, provide additional traffic capacity, and improve the highways level of service. Black & McDonald was contracted to complete the electrical and civil works including the replacement of traffic signals at Islington north and south terminals and Weston north terminals, upgrading of underpass lighting, upgrading of high mast lighting, the replacement of lighting standards on the Islington Ave bridge, and the relocation of existing Variable Message Signs.
